MUSCULAR SHOULDERS AND A NICE WIDE STANCE

 

One of the essential goals of the MadPSI Rear Fender Flares is to give your MR2 muscular shoulders and a nice wide stance,  just like a Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW M3, Audi RS4, or Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series. From the rear, the MR2’s width is prominent and striking.

 

WIDER THAN A PORSCHE GT3

 

At only 66.9 inches wide, the stock MR2 is actually narrower than the 67.7-inch wide third generation Mazda Miata. Your MR2 deserves better. The MadPSI Rear Fender Flares will make your MR2 wider. Much wider. Even wider than a Porsche GT3. If you measure the width of the entire MadPSI Rear Fender Flare, it is approximately 5 to 6 inches wide per side. Since the body of the MR2 curves from the top of the rear quarter panel to the top of the wheel arches, this translates to 2.5 inches of additional width per side (5 inches total), bumping the MR2’s width to 71.69 inches. In comparison, the Porsche 996 GT3 is only 69.7 inches wide. The Porsche 997 GT3 is only 71.2 inches wide. From Mazda Miata to Porsche GT3. Just let that sink in for a second.

 

FIT WIDER WHEELS, WIDER TIRES, DEEPER DISHES, AND MORE AGGRESSIVE WHEEL SPOKES

 

2.5 inches of extra space on each side (5 inches total) is a lot. This means more space for wider wheels, wider tires, deeper dishes, spokes that are more aggressive, etc. You can fit up to 12 inch width wheels in the rear, which is pretty awesome. Wider wheels mean wider tires, which will finally give high-powered MR2s the traction they need. Could you imagine how mean and imposing your car will look from the rear with wheels and tires that wide?

 

TWO PRODUCTS IN ONE – REAR FENDER FLARES & REAR BUMPER ATTACHMENTS

 

The MadPSI Rear Fender Flares is actually two products in one – rear fender flares and widebody rear bumper attachments. It is a one-piece product and the rear fender flares’ and rear bumper attachments’ subtle lines and shapes perfectly and elegantly flow into each other (for example, notice how the 1-inch bevel nicely expands into the rear bumper attachments). This not only means you get two products in one, but it means you get the kind of thoughtful and sophisticated design you cannot get if you merely molded a set of rear fender flares and rear bumper attachments together. This also means you no longer need to buy a rear bumper or rear bumper attachments. You can keep the quality, strength, and fitment of the stock rear bumper.

 

NO CUTTING NECESSARY

 

The MadPSI Rear Fender Flares follow the stock wheel arches exactly so that installation does not require cutting the stock rear fenders.

 

NO WHEEL TUCK

 

Since the MadPSI Rear fender flares follow the stock wheel arches, there is no wheel tuck caused by fender flares changing the shape of the wheel arches.

 

THE PERFECT BEVEL

 

The Mad PSI Rear Fender Flares have a bevel just like OEM fenders. We integrated a 1-inch bevel that follows the wheel arch. We experimented with different heights and 1-inch is the sweet spot. Anything more than 1-inch would look disproportionate, inelegant, distasteful, and cheap on the MR2. At 1-inch, the height of the bevel looks similar to the bevel on the Aston Martin One-77 fenders, for example, rather than the taller bevel on the Nissan Altima fenders. In addition, increasing the height of the bevel would increase the curvature angle of the Mad PSI Rear Fender Flares making the fender flares look more bulky, cartoonish, or bubbly like the Mazda Miata fender flares, which look like they were designed by someone tracing the fender arches with a huge tube of toothpaste. Anything less than 1-inch would make the bevel more similar to those found on cheap economy cars rather than premium sports cars. It will be too unnoticeable and unaggressive. The bevel should be tall enough where one sees it as a deliberate design decision, but short enough where it is subtle and sophisticated.

 

JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TAPER

 

The MadPSI Rear Fender Flares remain wide throughout its full circumference instead of tapering off before the side skirts and rear bumper. This prevents the MadPSI Rear Fender Flares from seeming insubstantial. Peak width is not the only important attribute. Unlike other fender flares, the MadPSI Rear Fender Flares do not end at the side vent, they continue all the way down and cleanly taper into the side skirts. In the rear, the MadPSI Rear Fender Flares continue down all the way to the bottom of the rear bumper. The MadPSI Rear Fender Flares tie the rest of the car together. The car looks complete.
